Dr. Mary Lynne Hartselle Capilouto

Dr. Mary Lynne Hartselle Capilouto joined the University of Kentucky (UK) family in 2011 when Dr. Eli Capilouto became the university's 12th president.

Dr. Capilouto has a deep and distinguished background as an educator, academic administrator and engaged civic leader. She currently holds the rank of Dean Emeritus at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry at Birmingham (UAB) after serving as Dean at the School from 1997 to 2004.

Dr. Capilouto retired from University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2005.  After retiring from her full-time academic position, she engaged in part-time teaching and dental practice (2005-2011) and has immersed herself in community volunteerism and fundraising in addition to caring for elderly parents.  Prior to moving to Kentucky, Dr. Capilouto served as President of the Board for The Women’s Fund of Greater Birmingham, an endowment fund that works to promote philanthropy among women and provide funds to programs that improve the lives of women and girls.  In addition to her responsibilities in her role as the spouse of the UK President, Dr. Capilouto serves as a member of the Kentucky Commission on Women, a member of the City of Lexington’s Town Branch Fund Board of Advisors and a member of the Leadership Council of the UK Women and Philanthropy Network.

 

 


When I envision an inclusive downtown park, I imagine an inviting, happy, healthy, safe and beautifully designed outdoor space that can be enjoyed by young and old of all ability levels and from all walks of life.
