We have assembled a team led by Sasaki that combines the best of national expertise with deep, local knowledge and pragmatism for how to get landscapes built in Lexington. The team specifically assigned to this project has led civic open space efforts across the country including award-winning landscapes like Cincinnati’s Smale Riverfront Park, the Chicago Riverwalk, Boston City Hall Plaza, the Port of Los Angeles Wilmington Waterfront Park and Moore Square in Raleigh. Zachary Chrisco, PE, Hon ASLA, and Principal-in-Charge, brings years of experience leading the implementation of complex civic landscapes nationwide. Kate Tooke, ASLA, Design Principal, has made the intersection of community engagement, contextual design and play for all ages the focus of her civic and public space practice. Matt Langan, ASLA and team project manager, has a passion for craftsmanship and rigorous ecological design, and has led the design of the Nord Family Greenway in Cleveland and Cantigny Park in Greater Chicago.

Rabun Architects, recognized as a leading architectural force within the hospitality industry, is a 45 year-old design firm with a catalog of over 200 successful projects and dozens of satisfied clients. Long-standing connections with major international operators and developers, coupled with expert working knowledge and modern design technology keep clients coming back. Rabun’s team of architects and designers leads in the industry in design innovation, leveraging the power of BIM and virtual reality to provide clients with a realistic view of their project early on in the design process. Rabun provides every client with quality design, rooted in practical, working knowledge of architecture and design. Rabun is partnered with Sasaki on the design of architectural elements within the park.
Our local landscape architect partner, Carman will inform and represent our design intent to ensure that the design solution is uniquely Lexington. Carman has a long history of creating community-centered and sustainable outdoor spaces for a variety of uses. Founded in 1980, this award-winning practice encompasses a broad spectrum of public and private works of design and planning. The practice extended to Louisville in 2007. Prior to joining the Sasaki team, Carman assisted the Gatton Park Foundation with a modified design framework as a basis for a realistic budget for the urban park development.

Ron Carmichael
Ronald Carmicle (Ron), began his career in construction, providing masonry commercial services to commercial projects within the southeastern United States, operating as Owner of River City Development for 44 years as well as numerous other ventures in the Construction and Development industries including Construction equipment rental and sales and Construction materials sales and distribution. In early 2001, Ron began serving as the Owner Representative for the 21c Hotel project in Louisville, Kentucky and multiple 21c Hotel projects in surrounding states. Ron has also served as the Owner’s Representative for Heaven Hill Distillery, Embassy Suites Hotel, and the Whiskey Row re-development. Ron was the past Chairman of the Kentucky State Fair Board and currently serves as Board Chairman to Central Bank of Jefferson County, Kentucky.
